A Very Merry Unbirthday.....

It was my birthday on the 23rd of this month and I finally turned the big 2-0! No longer a teenager....its scary stuff. I got loads of lovely presents including a couple of course for making petit fours and french pastries which I am doing in the middle of February at a place in Peebles in the Scottish borders called Cocoa Black. These courses will hopefully take me one step closer to opening my cake shop/tea room that i so badly want! I also got some new cook book and other baking related things as well as lots of other lovely things I haven't mentioned. To celebrate I went to my favourite restaurant with my family much to my delight and I had mussels to start which were to die for! They also do the most amazing creme brulee I've ever had. On Saturday i Also had a little party with my friends and I make some cakes for them all to have and the main reason for this post is to show you some lovely little pictures of them.

I made Chocolate whoopie pies with a marshmallow filling, strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and little vanilla cupcakes with the flowers on top! They went down very well and there was hardly any left.....now my next challenge is some cakepops since I got the Bakerella book from one of my friends :) I shall put up pictures once I have attempted them!

Love Happens

Recently I watched "Love Happens" a film released in 2009 starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart and it got me thinking about a lot of things. First of all love does happen, all the time and everywhere we look. My brother recently got Engaged and although I'm over the moon for him sometimes I wonder when love is going to happen for me. Gets kinda dull when everyone else is paired off and you end up being the third wheel. This got me started thinking about my future and mainly about my want to own my own shop. Originally I thought I wanted a cake shop but after watching "Love Happens" it made me want to get back to being a florist (in the movie Jennifer Aniston owns a florist).

We say so much with flowers, they can be a congratulations, sympathy, message of love or longing or even just a simple thanks and to be a part of that is touching so many people's lives. Its creative, exciting and I always looked forward to going to work when I was doing it. Even the idea of having my own little florist where people can come and get me to help them create their messages makes me smile a little.

So for me 2011 is about deciding for sure if this is what I want to do and doing some serious research into it. Although I may feel a little bit lost and indecisive just now once I'm on the right track I have no doubt I will manage to achieve what I want

and maybe someone so share it with :)
